Jupiter
|
Jupiter is a small town in Palm Beach County, approximately
twelve miles north of Palm Beach Shores on the southeast coast of Florida.
It is one of the few towns in the area that does not have an island in
front – the beaches here are part of the mainland. Miles of exquisite
coastline offer all types of beach activities, and biking along Jupiter’s
beautiful beachfront is a popular activity for both locals and visitors.
Guided kayak and canoe tours along the Loxahatchee River are available in
Jupiter, and the area also lures lots of scuba divers. Just northeast from
the town of Jupiter is the southern tip of Jupiter Island. As part of the
“Treasure Coast” of Florida, Jupiter Island is 17 miles long and is the
southernmost of Florida’s three barrier islands. While in Jupiter, be sure
to visit Palm Beach County’s oldest structure, the Jupiter Inlet
Lighthouse. This redbrick, 105-foot-tall building has been in operation
since 1860 and tours are given every half-hour. Jupiter offers a variety
of restaurants and lodging, and all of the quaint boutiques, galleries and
upscale shops of Palm Beach are just a short drive away. |
