Abacoa
is a place where people can live and work and grow. There are
neighborhoods that can accommodate people of all ages and income levels,

back into play the ideas of the traditional, neighborly community from

greens and community buildings for neighborly get-togethers. All

Going through the Abacoa
neighborhoods are the Greenways. These areas of preserved, natural Florida
ecosystems are enhanced to provide habitat for wildlife. In particular,
the endangered Florida Gopher Tortoise makes the Greenways home. The
Greenways also provide storm water management for the entire community of
Abacoa. Although these are the primary purposes, the Greenways also
provide people opportunities to enjoy and study natural Florida without
leaving their own backyards.
Abacoa's retail and commercial districts mirror the way that most people
conduct their lives, a balance of work, shopping, leisure and home life.
If neighborhoods are the soul of Abacoa, the Town Center is its heart.
Here will be the old fashioned Main Street setting in all its
pedestrian-friendly, eclectic glory. Restaurants, offices and neighborhood
- scale stores mix easily with the university campuses, the stadium and
even the golf course just a block away. The pulse of the Town Center will
be the rhythm of daily life, with parents running errands and kids meeting
their friends with all the resources of a community within easy reach.
Roger
Dean Stadium brings baseball into the center of Abacoa, hosting spring
training for the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, as well as the
Jupiter Hammerheads and Palm Beach Cardinals minor league baseball teams.
The stadium blends into the community, hosting and participating in
community events and activities.
The
community commercial centers are situated near Abacoa's main entrances,
providing plaza-style shopping with larger stores.
The
workplace campus holds the potential for bringing an economic base right
into the Abacoa community, but without compromising the integrity of
Abacoa's design. Buildings will be situated on a tree-lined street, with
sidewalks on both sides, and parking in the back. |
